Since its debut in 2001, we've seen five main Battle Network games, three of which use the Pokemon-inspired "multiple copies" marketing, a DS evolution of the same gameplay, a turn-based sub-version called Battle Chip Challenge (also known as "that which should not be spoken of" over at Capcom) and an action-oriented GameCube game as well. To say that the Mega Man Battle Network series has reached critical mass would seriously be an understatement.
